There’s this trend I’ve noticed almost every app now has some kind of streak feature. Open the app daily, interact with it, and keep that streak alive. On TikTok, for example, you keep your streak by sending videos back and forth with friends every day. If you miss a day, the streak is gone, and so is that little fire emoji.
This morning, while I was in the shower, I had a thought: what if God had the same technology? How often would we lose our streaks with Him? How many times would we let that connection with God “burn out” by missing prayer, Bible study, or time in His presence?
In a way, God has already given us this kind of “streak” system. Scripture encourages us to keep that connection alive daily. “Pray without ceasing,” it says, and “men ought always to pray and not lose heart.” Our “streak” with God is about maintaining our prayer life and devotion to Him each day. It’s a reminder of our ongoing relationship with Him a relationship that thrives on constant connection.
I’m writing this with a bit of a heavy heart because yesterday, I lost my 189-day Bible app streak on YouVersion😭. After a night vigil, I fell asleep without logging my reading for the day, and just like that, my streak reset to 1. I was praying all night, but the app didn’t know that.
Still, the loss reminded me of what really matters: not a digital counter but my actual fellowship with the Lord, say hallelujah 🙌
So, here’s my reminder to you and to myself don’t let your streak with God slip. Keep that connection alive, day after day. Don’t lose the habit of prayer and devotion. Your time with Him isn’t just another streak to maintain; it’s life itself. Keep that fire burning, and stay close to the One who’s closer than any app could ever be, say Glory! 😉
Blessings ❤️
